We are now living in different times on many levels. Shopping for food and other supplies is more time consuming with social distancing and number of people allowed into grocery stores. I am stocked up to limit the number of times I hit the shops. Hoping that we will eventually get through this horrible pandemic, but if the second wave comes I will be better prepared than the first. I have found that the Milk2Go as the most readily available drink found at most stores and online, with its long shelf life. Also I have purchased a couple of these just in case for my coffee in the morning. One less thing to worry about. If you do go out please remember don’t touch your face and wash your hands immediately when you get home from shopping. Stay safe
Lots of concern out there, with many stocking up on supplies. I think it is a great plan as long as it is not taken as the end of days. This will pass. Milk is an important staple for many families. Our household goes through a few litres per week, so Uht milk would be a good idea. This would limit the trips to a store full of shoppers. Isn’t that the plan to control potential infection? I see the same people running to stores everyday going overboard stockpiling enough supplies for many years. The government has advised against large crowds. My pharmacy and grocery store would have fallen into that category. For my family, I choose to buy many of my supplies online. This I believe, will help reduce the interaction with many people. We have chosen Amazon.ca as the main supplier in my house. At least for the next month. Amazon.ca has a free Amazon Prime trial, for 2 day shipping that lasts for 30 days. Cancel if you want at any time. At 30 days I will then determine if I still require it. Walmart.ca is another option. Stay healthy and be smart. Passing this along from a consumer of UHT milk.
Hi there, I believe UHT milk has caused leaky gut and has directly affected my heath over the last 3 years. I purchase and consume milk every day, instead of coffee, and I have had some major health issues arise suddenly. I have experienced major leaky gut problems, I couldn’t lay down or sit comfortably due to this problem. I experienced cramping/gut pain. I had rashes that went up both sides of my body, under my arms was a problem area, I was catching every cold or flu going around and I didn't have my regular energy. I had visited my family doctor numerous times over the last number of years trying to figure out what the problem is. Having not associated all the symptoms as caused by the same problem, this took a couple of years to figure out. I went through many tests and it was thought that IBS was the issue. I was sent to a Dietitian who made me create a food diary. This has helped me identify UHT milk as the problem. I love milk and still drink milk every day and I have for over 30 years. The only change to my diet was to remove UHT milk. Since I have removed UHT milk from my diet, I now don’t have leaky gut, I don’t have any rashes and I feel way better! I feel normal and I don’t have ANY apparent health issues any longer. UHT milk has created over 3 years of pain and suffering for me and my family. I don't have IBS and I feel 100% better without UHT milk in my diet, but I could not go one day without a glass of milk in the morning. After making this change and experiencing such a rapid improvement in my health I started to search the internet to see if anyone else was experiencing a similar reaction to UHT milk and I found numerous blogs with people reporting the same issues. Upon further research, I have found out that some people cannot process UHT milk and this is directly related to the issues I faced over the last 3 years. K Harrington I have put together my Pros vs Cons of consuming U.H.T. Milk
Companies like Tetra Pak and milk suppliers have spent large amount of money to make you feel warm and cuddly to buy their product. Take a quick look at milkunleased.com, a splashy website with all the bells and whistles to help drill into your head that U.H.T. milk is SAFE and good for you.
Many companies will even call the product FRESH. What ? Do you think a product that can sit on the shelf up to 9 months should be called fresh? Some people believe everything. I created this site and Blog as a fact finding mission on all things that are UHT processed. Many of my friends and family are unaware of UHT products and their properties.
Our family went to France for a holiday and was shocked to find out that "fresh milk" was hard to find. Some stores did not even carry it! The alternative was to choose from a large selection of UHT milk products (shelf stable) that took up 1/4 of an isle. When you mention to most Canadians about milk that can sit on the shelf for 9 months, they are unimpressed and very wary to even try it. "What have they added to it to make it last that long?" and "Is it even real milk?" are the statements I am getting from asking my friends. I myself did not know much about it before going to France. The marketers of UHT milk products have a long tough road to push the idea of UHT being real milk and good for you. Being on the shelf and not in the refrigerated section is the first thing that impedes acceptance. Some retailers/suppliers will try any way to sell their product. I was in No Frills the other day and found a popular sale item Saputo's Neilson's single serve flavoured UHT milk drinks. They were in a large refrigerated cooler and people were frantically buying these as if it was normal pasteurised milk. The expiry date told a different story - good for 8 months! I wonder how many would have bought it if this was known. |
